Health and Homelessness Fund For Change

The Health and Homelessness Fund for Change, fuelled by a transformative $25 million donation from a London family who wishes to remain anonymous, supports the implementation of London’s Whole of Community System Response to Health and Homelessness. The Fund for Change is administered by London Community Foundation in partnership with the donor family.

Created collaboratively by more than 200 individuals from 70 organizations across sectors, the system response is a groundbreaking approach not previously seen in the community, with a fully integrated system where service providers collaborate in new, more effective ways. It is designed to help the most marginalized individuals move safely inside, become stabilized and supported, and ultimately transition into highly supportive housing

The system response is being facilitated through the City of London and implemented by lead agencies, with ongoing collaboration among several sectors, including police and emergency services, hospitals, front-line community service organizations, education, and government.

Matching Fund

When you give now, every dollar becomes two thanks to a matching fund powered by the generous anonymous donor family.

The Role of Fund For Change

The Fund for Change does not fund everything in the Whole of Community System Response.

The Fund for Change at this time is primarily to provide capital dollars to fast-track Hubs and highly supportive housing, including:

  • Refurbishment of buildings to make them suitable for use as Hubs or highly supportive housing.

  • Equipment needed by staff on-site at Hubs and highly supportive housing, such as computers and desks.

  • Physical equipment needed to meet basic needs in Hubs and highly supportive housing, such as beds, sinks, showers, etc.

The elements of the Whole of Community System Response that the Fund for Change helps to fund may evolve overtime in response to needs. The Fund for Change will remain fully committed to addressing London’s health and homelessness crisis.

Londoners contributed $6.2 million to the Health and Homelessness Fund for Change, exceeding the $5 million goal announced last September. The London family that spearheaded the Fund for Change, administered by London Community Foundation, matched the donations from Londoners dollar-for-dollar for a total of $12.4 million. This is in addition to the donor family’s initial $25 million commitment.

London’s Health & Homelessness Fund for Change today introduced the dedicated volunteer fundraising committee tasked with expanding a historically significant $25 million contribution from an anonymous London family to a potential $35 million, via an innovative community matching initiative. An additional $5 million in matching dollars have been pledged by the donor family, effectively doubling every dollar donated by the community, with the goal to activate an additional $10M million in total to support London’s new health and homelessness system response.
